Streaming Manager (Ustream Pro Broadcast)

Overall Satisfaction with IBM Cloud Video (including Ustream)

Very simple to set up and maintain - perfect for streaming event broadcasts, sports events, and even just yourself without requiring significant knowledge of encoders, stream tuning, player configuration and networking.
[It's] primarily used for streaming large corporate events to customers, the public and for internal event broadcasts. It's also used by a few departments for delivery of pre-recorded VoD content.

Pros

  • Easy integration with existing encoders like Wowza
  • Simple, adaptive player
  • Simple to publish to a large audience

Cons

  • Hard to secure videos.
  • Channel-based architecture and cost structure make it difficult to implement corporate-wide; limited ability to create customized channels for each department without incurring significant cost.
  • Lacking webinar-type features like integrated desktop sharing and input from SIP and H.323 endpoints.
Very good for large, public (or semi-private) broadcasts. Easily implemented from off-site locations like conference centers with limited bandwidth demand (~2Mbps for 1080p). Not so good for webinars or anything that demands some interactivity from the audience.
