IBM virtually compared to the others, Google, AWS, etc
Score 5 out of 10
Vetted Review
Overall Satisfaction with IBM Cloud Virtual Servers
IBM was been evaluated for the whole organization to address a complete solution of cloud services. To provide domains which would be a start of our companies business identity with the room and infrastructure to grow. Along with the support needed for employees that are not familiar with the product. Also, as a small business initial price had a huge impact.
Pros
- The absolute best as stable environment.
- Safely instructing users of bad practices.
- Documentation and tutorials are well written and thought out.
Cons
- Remote SSH connection is for advanced users. Some employees had a difficult time therefore they did not participate.
- Support was marketed heavily, but had to rely on documentation.
- Prices are not scaled for small business and startups.
- Can consolidate resources.
- Provides all the capabilities for growth.
- Onboarding demands a complete commitment.
We did not take advantage of this function, due to guidance for implementation. I will revisit to find support for this advantage.
Demands for these resources can come at unexpected times, and having the peace of mind is very reassuring. And can be use for large scale testing of your product to find its limits.
This is in the company business plan as a long-term goal. But could not support it at this time.
- AWS Organizations, AWS Identity & Access Management, Google Workspace (formerly G Suite) and Google Compute Engine
Each has its own pros and cons. I would use IBM before AWS, but after Google.
- IBM Cloud Virtual Servers
- IBM Cloud Server Software
Deployment of resources had its learning curve. Although every well explained when it comes to pricing with the budget calculator.
