Overall Satisfaction with IBM Security MaaS360 with Watson

We use MaaS360 A) as an asset tracking system for all of our mobile, non-laptop, devices. We have a mixture of Apple and Android devices - both tablets and phones - and MaaS360 allows us to easily create profiles for both platforms and integrate them seamlessly. B) as a way to instantly get important documents (safety, instructional, etc) out to field workers who may not have computers, or easy access to a computer in the middle of the day.

  • Integration with major carriers
  • User interface could be a bit more friendly
  • "Feature" packages should be re-worked
  • Support can be iffy at times
  • Better toolset from previous software and easier to use.
  • Initially we had to physically touch EVERY phone/tablet in the company to get it on the new platform, which was not easy across multiple states/many field workers.
  • Ensured all users had passcodes, strong passwords, etc in case devices were lost.
MaaS360 has a much better UI and toolset vs AirWatch, and while the initial deployment (touching all devices manually) was not ideal - the end result was worth the change. Profiles and devices are easy to manage and violations are easy to take care of and track down. With the added ability to sync documents, pictures, etc to groups of devices to get important information out quickly and easily to our field workers it was a no brainer. AirWatch was not intuitive enough for us at the time.
If you are a small business with only a couple of employees, MaaS360 is probably not for you as you'd spend more time working with the system than just going to your employee and asking. If you have multiple sites, and/or a good amount of employees (especially if there is a lot of travel involved), or if you must follow strict guidelines (E.G. HIPAA) then this is the product for you. It ensures all devices meet the same minimum requirements and has good remote management options for lost devices and such.
