Overall Satisfaction with IBM MaaS360 with Watson

We use MaaS360 mainly in our operations department which consists of people in the field almost all work day. We decided to go with it to solve the issue of people using their own iPads on job sites then having work info on the device when leaving the company. In addition it solves the issue of people handing in company iPads with personal Apple passwords on them making them virtually impossible to unlock and use.
  • Their on-boarding program is sensational and it really helps you get up to speed on the use of the software.
  • The portal used to manage the devices and settings is professionally designed and runs very smoothly.
  • IBM goes out of their way to provide help and documentation for the period after on-boarding.
  • In using it for 6-8 months I have found no issues with the workability of the functions that can be run on the tablets and phones.
  • The website has oh-so-many options that it can be overwhelming when it comes to finding the option or policy you want.
  • After log-in they have a "Dashboard" web page that shows you important info about your devices but many of the errors do not have the appropriate links to rectify them.
  • Their process to wipe an iPad could be better. Post-wipe it still shows up in the list of devices as waiting for something to happen to it so it can be a bit confusing.
  • MaaS360 has lessened the chance of someone turning in a locked iPad.
  • The price is more than affordable when comparing it to other SaaS applications.
  • The ability to securely add software remotely has also lessened the load on our IT department's need to manually manage our mobile devices.
  • The ability to centrally track our devices has allowed us to more confidently broach the subject of handing our iPads to other departments.
I believe MaaS360 has many more policy based choices than Meraki when it comes to Apple mobile device management. The MaaS360 suite seemed better suited for our SMB needs. However Meraki is also a decent MDM and is professionally built for enterprise use. In the end we chose MaaS360 because of its on-boarding process and ease of use out of the gate. Meraki required more time to learn the ins and outs.
MaaS360's phone support has been decent the few times I have used it. In addition the person who on-boarded us has been available for additional questions after the process was over. However IBM could do a much better job in creating a user-friendly search engine and white-paper database to help people find topics. Right now finding info is more based on searching through white papers themselves.

MaaS360 is suited well both for small shops and some medium-sized shops where the goal is to mostly manage company-run devices. Its smooth running web portal makes changing items happen quickly and for the most part, except for wiping machines, most items flow smoothly and make sense. The ease of use is good for the smaller shops that do not have a lot of time to spending on training. Conversely I am not sure MaaS360 is a great choice for large shops or shops that intend on having a lot of BYOD users. To use it effectively you have to request the user go into the MaaS360 app and agree to some items and that is not always an easy task with BYOD.
