Overall Satisfaction with IBM Power Systems Virtual Server
IBM Power Systems Virtual Server is being used by our organization as an enterprise infrastructure as a service IaaS offering. These systems are separate from the rest of the network, enabling us to run partitions with the hypervisor. It allows us straight forward billing and includes AIX and IBM operating system licenses.
Pros
- Billing
- Virtualization
- Flexibility
Cons
- Implementation could be easier.
- Can be confusing to network engineers.
- Allows us to save money when expanding.
- Has lead to some issues with implementation and confusion.
We went with IBM Power Systems Virtual Server because we already had a relationship with IBM. Billing was easy to set up. HyperV was much easier to implement, but we found the IBM solutions to be more robust and secure, although they were more complicated. But that's probably what leads to the security.
