IBM SPSS Statistics for Statistical Analysis
Overall Satisfaction with IBM SPSS Statistics
I use IBM SPSS Statistics for research and assessment purposes, to analyze data and obtain insights regarding future decision making tasks. Since I am an educator, I need to use data to understand how students are performing in my courses, what challenges they are facing, and other feedback, to determine what steps and measures need to be employed to improve student learning outcomes. A big part of my research focuses on determining factors contributing to student success.
Pros
- Data analysis
- Visualization
- Statistical modeling
- Statistical inference
Cons
- Analyzing in multi-response items for categorical data. The frequency distributions are harder to interpret in such cases and often have to be manually done.
- The visualization output can be made more sophisticated and interactive.
- More modeling and statistical methods can be added, including decision models, optimization models, and linear programming.
- Improved insights from data to drive decision making
- Good visualization to communicate the findings with colleagues and administrators
- Hopefully the research findings are helpful in designing new courses and programs on campus
I am at an educational institution, so the data insights from using IBM SPSS Statistics are very helpful as the platform is easy to use, user-friendly and the results are easy to communicate with everyone. It is easy to implement and the required analyses are performed fairly quickly. This helps to make quick progress on the tasks on hand.
Towards this, IBM SPSS Statistics has had a huge impact on decision-making based on data driven insights, as mentioned earlier also.
IBM SPSS Statistics is much easier to use, even in classes with students, compared to other similar data analytic software that I have used previously. I selected it because of this reason and I plan to continue using it in the future. The interface is user friendly and the help documentation for the different functions are very helpful.
