Overall Satisfaction with IBM Z Enterprise Servers
We provide a shared infrastructure for multiple departments. The business problems are varied and based on the department. Examples are DMV, and various other departments, many health and welfare related.
- Security. TLS can be easily deployed to new applications via the Configuration Assistant.
- High Workload. We typically have tens of thousands of users logged in at a time, and this is not a problem at all.
- High Availability. With DDVIPA, we are able to utilize multiple LPARs to access the same underlying applications, even if a particular LPAR is unavailable.
- Complexity. Many needs are common (telnet, FTP, etc). It would be nice if those were simpler to deploy.
- User interface. Green screens aren’t interesting to younger programmers.
- Built-in fault finding heuristics would be nice. It is difficult to see problems through the noise.
- High Availability helps field offices keep lines moving.
- Security helps keep auditors happy.
- Scalability makes it easy to grow as needed.
Z Systems are much more secure, reliable than Windows. There is very little comparable in the enterprise space.
