Overall Satisfaction with Infoblox DDI (BloxOne)
We are using Infoblox DDI internal and external grid and internal grid. They help us with our DNS, DHCP, and IPAM infrastructure.
Pros
- Infoblox DDI helps us with our DNS requests for internal and external networks
- It helps us do IPAM functionality
- It helps us with serving DHCP to the network sites and datacenters
Cons
- The Infoblox DDI grid VMs require too much space, Processor, and memory, It needs to be skimmed a bit.
- The OS used is NIOS and has very limited operations we can do on it. It adds a limitation to being scanned for vulnerabilities.
- The support and migration require too much work and downtime.
- Internal DNS services, Internet name serves to cache.
- IPAM management helps us assign new IP addresses and an overview of what is used.
- DHCP helps with assigning IP addresses to networks and systems via DHCP
- This is a crown piece of infrastructure for us. Downtime on this would cause a network down for us. Fortunately, this has been working well for us till now.
- The support is also very good, Patching does require some downtime and reboots though
- SolarWinds IP Address Manager (IPAM) and Amazon Route 53
Infoblox DDI supports services across hybrid platforms and the capability to switch from appliances to VMs has added to the mobility of the applications. Setting up two grids(Internal and external) helps manage and segment the network in scopes of DNS and DHCP and apply firewall security policies over our external caching grid members.
