Overall Satisfaction with InVision Freehand

We use InVision Freehand for brainstorming and research purpose. We also use InVision Freehand within the design team for fun art activities and collaboration!
  • Take down notes
  • Brainstorm ideas
  • Live collaboration
  • Integration with other apps such as Figma, Sketch and other design tools would be good
  • Different versions of InVision Freehand have different looks and functionality which is sometimes confusing.
  • Drawing
  • Notes taking
  • High level sketching
  • Other tools such as FigJam with better integration with design software is a huge question for ROI on where the other software can replace both white-boarding and design tools with one single product.
  • InVision Freehand is often combined with InVision software for sharing designs and creating prototypes which often adds more cost on top of what the InVision tool.
  • Recently, I have seen talks within my company to see if InVision Freehand can be replaced by Figma or Figjam so that the company doesn't have to manage multiple different software which also reduces security vulnerability as my company has very hard set security rules.
I honestly think all the tools mentioned above are pretty well designed and executed compared to freehand. As far as the features of freehand compared to other tools, I do not see anything unique or extra that one software does that the other software does not. So with that said, I would say InVisionFreehand is just as good as the other software I mentioned above. It often really comes down to what software works best with the company's needs and how easily can it integrate with other tools the company uses.

InVision Freehand is great when you are conducting product or users research where you may need to take notes down on an open canvas. It is also a very good tool for brainstorming ideas. You may want to put those ideas on sticky notes so that you can come back to them later. I also use InVision Freehand when we have meetings that involve creating fun drawings and art online allowing the team to be collaborative.
