Overall Satisfaction with Kofax Power PDF (formerly Nuance Power PDF)

At my company it is used as a Takeoff tool for working with civil plan sets. We use the measuring tool for distance to measure pipe lengths and create lists of materials to quote on bids. It is a program that me and another employee used at a different employer and enjoyed so we brought it here with us. We plan to expand who uses it.
  • It is faster loading pages than the competition.
  • It has a great measuring/scaling system for plan sets.
  • It has competitive pricing for different options.
  • I would like to see an option for counting by clicking areas.
  • It saves me time when preforming project takeoffs.
  • The measuring system saves time as I don't have to do it by hand.
  • It makes creating submittal packages a simple process.
It has definitely been easy to use. Even when I was new to the program it was simple to learn and easy to apply to my everyday needs. There is little that I would change to this program. I haven't had any bad experiences so far in my 4 years of use.
Kofax in my experience has been much better than Adobe. Nuance really has more features that I use on a daily bases than Acrobat or any other PDF program that I have used in the past. I specifically brought this from a company I worked with previously because it was so helpful.
I don't think I am able to provide a rating for the support team as I have never had to contact them. However that on its own could be considered a great rating as I believe the best support system is one that isn't needed because the program works so well.

As I have mentioned previously the features I use the most is the scaling and measuring tools. I also use the ability to drag and drop pages into the page tabs when making pdf submittal packages to send to engineers. I would like to see a counting feature added but other than that I absolutely love this product.
It is very well suited in my profession as it is fast when loading pages and we usually use it for plan sets that are hundreds of pages long. It also has a good scaling and measuring systems when preforming takeoffs on the plan sets. It is also good for making submittal packets to submit to engineering companies explaining the materials that we will be bidding for the projects.
