Overall Satisfaction with Linode

Linode is our primary source of online infrastructure. We have run dozens of VPS machines over the years. We really like the incredible robustness and performance of the hardware, as well as the easy administration of the instances. When we need a quick, simple, and solid machine to run our web apps and services used by us and our clients, we chose Linode.

  • True billing per minute or second of VPS usage with a cheap persistent storage
  • Ultra cheap VPS option for microservices
  • Flat, small monthly fee for the VPS instances lets us clearly calculate costs
  • Quick and easy setup and management of instances lets us focus on our core business rather than infrastructure administration
  • Linode is a start-and-forget type of system; once you set it up, it just works.
We compared the performance of small instances from Azure and Amazon, and Linode not only has a superior performance (their smallest nodes feel at least twice as fast as the small nodes from Azure or Amazon), Linode's yearly costs are many times cheaper. We tested other providers like DigitalOcean or Vultr, but their support, performance, and reliability were not trustworthy.
Linode Support is fantastic. They are always prompt and quick to resolve your issue. Many similar companies tend to blame the clients for the problems with their instances, but not Linode. With the additional extensive library of tutorials, their overall educational support is unparalleled. Even looking for solutions to Azure or Amazon issues is a nightmare because there are so many different things to try. Linode strikes a good balance between a solid but limited offering, making it a perfect choice for those who seek a no-problem platform.
Linode instances are great for all web software and services that can work on their own using singular machines, like blogs, CRMs, web apps, scripts and services, etc. The performance in comparison with the competition is unparalleled.

I wouldn't use Linode for systems based on microservices, where infrastructure should be extensive, very dynamic, and constantly optimized through spinning instances up and down.
