Overall Satisfaction with Linode

We use Linode as the backbone of our website hosting services, which allows us to deliver top-level hosting performance to our clients while also allowing us to control costs. The ability to swiftly spin up a Linode in virtually any major region in the US and get our stack up & running gives us the flexibility to provide the resources needed to ensure client websites & services operate quickly & efficiently.

Pros

  • Value.
  • Uptime.
  • Support.
  • Features.
  • Flexibility.

Cons

  • TrustRadius recommends I add at least three issues, but I can't. Perhaps we'll run into issues as we continue to scale, but so far, it's been nothing but positive.
  • Positive cost-benefit service.
  • Granular control over web hosting needs, including scaling up or down.
  • Flexibility to test new ideas on low-cost hardware to always stay ahead of the curve.
To be honest, while we deliberated between the two, we went with Linode from the beginning and never looked back. Part of the reasoning, admittedly, is they are a company more local to us than DO. And, as a South Jersey business, having Linode in Philadelphia vs. DO in NY, we wanted to support a more "hometown" business.
They're very friendly and quick to respond. Even when a datacenter we were on got knocked offline a few years ago (Newark), they maintained their composure when we called them wondering what was going on. To be honest, that was a huge plus when you consider we had hosting clients rightfully breathing down our backs wondering the same thing, and our composure itself was being tested.
Microsoft 365 (formerly Office 365), Mautic (open source), SuiteCRM
With the right knowhow for your purposes, it's great for virtually anything where using the cloud is necessary. While we don't currently have any of our Linodes set up as VPNs or exclusive cloud drives (i.e., OneDrive, Google Drive, etc.), we absolutely love it for hosting web applications and client websites.
