Simple reliable and feature rich
Overall Satisfaction with ManageEngine Endpoint Central
ManageEngine Endpoint Central has allowed us to really improve our MDM. Patching, deploying and administering devices is really simple, with its huge support for patching 3rd party applications, automatic package creation and reporting, you can easily ensure devices are deployed with the same configurations on the same versions. The agent-based model has also ensured reliability in communication, even in a hybrid environment (which other package deployment models with a push configuration was struggling with)
Pros
- Patching applications
- package management
- self service applications
- device management (remote CMD and remote assistance)
- Inventory reporting
Cons
- the remote powershell missing some features to make it easier to use (tab to complete, up arrow to auto-fill last command)
- sometimes error messages for deployments/ patching is a bit ambiguous
- support for patching adobe products (photoshop, writer etc.)
- remote cmd/powershell saves a lot of time when applying fixes suited (rather than trying to arrange a time with users for support, which can be really time consuming waiting to connect for remote support)
- reliability of auto patching saves manual intervention and a lot of time
We did not use ManageEngine Endpoint Central over intune specifically, we run the solutions in parallel. This is ideal, as intune allows surface devices to be shipped and enrolled (no imaging, PXE or any intervention needed) The huge advantage of intune is we can ship the devices ready to be built by users signing in. From there we deploy the agent and allow ManageEngine Endpoint Central to do the rest (installing other applications, patching etc) as ManageEngine Endpoint Central is more feature rich.
