What is ManageEngine Endpoint Central?

Endpoint Central is a UEM solution that helps in managing servers, desktops, laptops, smartphones, tablets, and POS devices from a central location.It automates day-to-day endpoint management routines like installing patches, detecting vulnerabilities, deploying software, imaging and deploying OSs, managing mobile and BYOD devices, remote troubleshooting, and modern management with on-premises or cloud versions.

Endpoint Central also helps in managing mobile devices by deploying profiles and policies; configuring devices for Wi-Fi, VPN, and email accounts; applying restrictions on using certain features like the camera or browser; and securing devices by enabling passcodes, remote lock or wipe, and more.

The product supports Windows, Linux, macOS, iOS, Android, and Windows smartphones and tablets. It also has a mobile app that can be used to manage endpoints.

  • With software metering, the real use of applications by users has been identified; in this case, when the license renewal date arrives, users who do not use this application have stopped renewing it. This has achieved savings for the business.
  • The deployment of images has made the onboarding of collaborators faster, this means less downtime and more productivity for the company.
  • By having the laptops patched and without vulnerabilities, there is greater productivity, because the equipment is no longer out of service due to an attack or vulnerability.

  • Our security posture is easy to see and act upon as you have a single place to look at all machines vulnerabilities. This helps us when it comes to security audits as we are able to demonstrate the value of the application.
  • Remote support is inbuilt and easy to use as you can just hop onto any agented machine and control it directly without asking for codes or getting people to visit a specific website.
  • We were able to mass install various applications to client machines over the years and the time and cost saved by not having to visit remote machines in different countries has proved invaluable.

  • Positive - Endpoint Central does a lot! Which gives it an amazing bang for the buck!!!
  • Positive - Endpoint Central makes various IT management tasks easy.
  • Negative - I have already mentioned this, but I can't tell you how important this is. Support - it is not great, when you get a ME tech that knows their area, then it is good to great! But it can take effort to reach that person, front line support does their best, but so many of my cases have involved more advanced support. This can take days for someone to get back to me, via email. Often I have open several cases on the same issue before reaching the correct solution.
  • Lastly - I spent an amazing amount of time in 2021 basically testing the product. So much so that I used that as a negotiation to bring the price down when we renewed.
  • I seriously considered other products at renewal time. But the discounted price did not come close to my time dealing with Bugs and low quality support.
  • We stayed with Desktop Central because it was successful in deploying updates - all the rest we could consider a different product if needed.
  • 2022 - as been much better, few bugs and support has improved, but there are still timely support issues.

  • Saves countless hours on phone support by allowing easy remote connection so you and the end user can see their screen(s) the same time they do.
  • Allows for scheduled shut downs and restarts so noone need stay after hours to initiate them.
  • Has made it very easy to see what patches need installed and which computer need rebooted to finish the patch installation, saves a lot of time.
