Overall Satisfaction with Mautic (open source)

We are using Mautic as our CRM and marketing automation system; to manage and segment our communities database and send and track mailings.

  • Install and upgrades have taken too much of my time, but I'm not a developer.
  • But the system works and does everything I need.
Salesforce and Dynamics may be fine if you can afford them, but don't offer much more than what you get from Mautic, for free and with total control and longer term active development.

SugarCRM ended development and maintenance of their Community Edition around 2018. The long-term roadmaps for free versions of SugarCRM or its forks were very unclear.

Mautic is not Salesforce or Dynamics of course; it is hard to install, still buggy and you have to know what you're doing if you want to use it. But that is your admission fee to an always free system that does essentially all the same things as the pricey alternatives, does it effectively and gives you total control. Mautic was acquired by Acquia, the company behind Drupal, and has been making substantial upgrades since that seem to be accelerating. The system has an active user community, active development and will only get better, making it an excellent choice to grow with and build your own systems around and never be dependent on third parties.
