Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We have had Microsoft's AI assistant called Copilot for about a year or so. I usually use Copilot to formulate email responses to authors and suppliers to save time, so that I can focus on other high priority tasks. This has helped enhance my productivity. Copilot also helps me to analyze sales data on Excel. I can just use basic prompts in the Copilot chat interface and it'll help me filter out the data I want. I can also use to create PivotTables and PivotCharts, as well as identify trends and outliers in the data.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Copilot is excellent at formulating responses to emails that I receive from authors and customers.
Copilot is extremely useful while working on Excel. You don't need to remember formulas in Excel. Just write a prompt and tell Copilot what you want to do with the data, and it will give you the exact formula to use.
Copilot is also great at editing any content I need to review. All I have to do is copy paste the content in the prompt bar and ask copilot to check for grammatical errors in the content and gives an immediate response highlighting all the errors.

Cons

Like all other AI systems, Copilot suffers from hallucinations. You have to be very careful with the output it generates. It could be completely wrong. It needs to be checked and rechecked to see if it is correct.
Copilot sometimes struggles to formulate accurate responses to complex queries. It will either provide an incomplete response or generate a response that would be completely wrong.
Right now, I am unable to customize Copilot for my specific needs. Hopefully, in future versions of the AI, this will be taken care of.

Return on Investment

Copilot has had a huge positive impact on my productivity. My job requires a lot of author and customer interaction, so since I use Copilot, I dont need to spend hours in my workday answering emails.
Copilot has also helped with my data analysis skills. I use the data analysis to create proposals and I have noticed a significant increase in project approvals after I have started using Copilot.
One of the business objectives of my company is to create high quality education resources. Since Copilot is integrated across platforms and departments in all office locations across the world, it has helped streamline operations in my company. This has definitely supported in achieving this objective.

Usability

Copilot is an excellent AI tool from Microsoft. Unlike other AI tools, Copilot comes integrated with all the major Microsoft apps that we use in our day-to-day work. So, we don't need to log on to another AI on the browser to use AI capabilities. It is also very easy to use. I would highly recommend it to everyone.

Alternatives Considered

ChatGPT

Since we use Microsoft 365 apps in our day-to-day work, we didn't have to choose Copilot over any other AI. It just came with the subscription. However, I would still use it over ChatGPT because Copilot is integrated with all the major Microsoft apps that we use. We dont need to log into a separate AI over a browser. I also think our company data is far more secure while we use Copilot.

For a tech newbie like me, Copilot is an excellent AI tool if you are look to enhance your productivity at the workplace. It will generate extremely useful responses to emails so that you don't have to think about a response. It will also enhance your data analysis on excel. You don't have to remember complex excel formulas anymore, which is a huge bonus.

Copilot is not appropriate when you have to do complex problems and difficult calculations. This is because you have to check and recheck every response it gives, which is a waste of time. There is also a limit to the number of prompts Copilot can generate in a single chat window, so if you have a lot of work, you need to give the same prompt over and over again in different chat windows.
