Overall Satisfaction with Microsoft Defender for Cloud

At our company, Microsoft Defender for Cloud is a priority for keeping the cloud infrastructure secure. As the management of a cloud environment started to become more intricate, we were in search of a tool that would cover all aspects of threats in the cloud. I have been able to identify that Microsoft Defender for Cloud is useful in solving several business concerns and helps ensure that the organization has adequate security measures.

Pros

  • Helped our team identify potential threats using machine learning and behavioral analytics
  • It offers compliance management tools, automatically assessing cloud environments against industry standards like GDPR, and HIPAA, which is a plus
  • Integrates smoothly across various cloud platforms, including Azure, AWS, and on-premises environments

Cons

  • UI may hard to understand in some cases, especially for new users
  • It would be great if we have control over which alerts are prioritized or filtered out based on specific organizational needs
  • The platform could improve its compatibility with third-party security tools and platforms
  • Reduced our incident response time by approximately 40% with real-time threat detection and alerts
  • Saving our compliance team some of their time on regulatory assessments
We use AWS primarily and also use Azure which helps with various organizational processes of the company. We also own resources of our own and thus our infrastructure is hybrid and multi-cloud in nature. Hence, General purpose environments, Container environments and the Serverless environments are significant in offering points that guarantees a single security management plane through Microsoft Defender for Cloud. This means that we gain the best out of each cloud platform for the specific aspects that suit it, and the security remains intact and standard.
Yes, I must admit that Microsoft Defender for Cloud has greatly assisted in making our threat alert environment less populated. It is important to know that before using Microsoft Defender for Cloud, our team was overwhelmed with countless alerts, a vast majority of which were either false positives or simple, low-level problems. These made it hard for one to address the issues that were core to any organization and posed major threats to it.
Although we still use some other security tools apart from Microsoft Defender for Cloud, the use of Microsoft Defender for Cloud has made it possible for us to work with a few other specific security tools. It is efficient in that it integrates a great deal of security functions in one platform and thus we do not have to deal with a lot of other tools.
Microsoft Defender for Cloud offered a more integrated and comprehensive solution for our multi-cloud environment, integrating well with our security and compliance needs
