Overall Satisfaction with Microsoft Visual Studio Code

I use it to open Flutter & React projects, plus it's an essential tool for developers. I get extensions, intellisense, and now Copilot to make my job easier. This also uses less RAM than Android Studio, since we can turn off unused extensions. We now get MCPs, which let us connect to different services, and the AI agent gets the context for everything required. Truly an amazing tool.

Pros

  • It uses less RAM.
  • It helps in auto completion.
  • It detects syntax errors using intellisence.

Cons

  • The UI is not customizable the sidebar should be available to be put horizontally.
  • It's a free tool so It's worth the install and its stable as well.
Microsoft Visual Studio Code earns a 10 for its exceptional balance of power and simplicity. Its intuitive interface, robust extension ecosystem, and integrated terminal streamline development. With seamless Git integration and highly customizable settings, it adapts perfectly to any workflow, making complex coding tasks feel effortless for beginners and experts alike.
Those are agentic IDEs, a fork of VSCode, but Visual Studio Code is used for inferior hardware and has fewer features, whereas others have more features but can't be used on those devices. So, it's the POV of the machine's config: which IDE should be used? If it has a good amount of RAM, we use AGentic IDEs; else, we use VS Code, simple!

Do you think Microsoft Visual Studio Code delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Microsoft Visual Studio Code's feature set?

Yes

Did Microsoft Visual Studio Code live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Microsoft Visual Studio Code go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Microsoft Visual Studio Code again?

Yes

For low-end devices, it is a very good tool, but for devices that have decent RAM and decent CPU, I would recommend Android Studio for Android dev as it has more features, and for others, I will recommend agile IDEs like Cursor and Anti-Gravity, as they offer higher limits on AI models, and autocomplete is unlimited as well.
