Overall Satisfaction with Mimecast Advanced Email Security

Between flagging and blocking constant spam, addressing potential phishing scams, and ensuring the transmission of our emails being sent and received, we adhere to a standard of security with the likes of SPF, DKIM, and DMARC and, on most occasions, enforced TLS. I have to say I've been using Mimecast for over 7+ years now, and it's been a solid tool for my day-to-day usage.

Pros

  • Utilize a large known list of bad actors to limit users' exposure.
  • Easy integration with other services like 365.
  • Constant account review stats.

Cons

  • I prefer to be able to block more file extensions in our environment and not be subject to a standard list we can't control.
  • Having a notes field within policies would be helpful for later review purposes.
  • Reduced user exposure to numerous threats.
  • Threat identification by staff is up 97%.
Looks daunting at first, but once I got into creating policies, I found the structure simple and easy to fit my needs, and with the plentiful information on the community sites, I could find the answers to any questions I had. Having this all-in-one solution makes things a lot easier to manage than in past environments I've worked in.
Advanced threat protection was a neat tool to utilize alongside Office 365; it was simple to set up and easy to use from the console, so I've not had any issues.
At the time, we were more of an on-premise system, the name I couldn't recall, but luckily, that didn't matter much as it was a trivial task thanks to the help of the Mimecast support team. Without their help, I would have been slowly dealing with the process for weeks.
Mimecast was a leap forward for us as it provided better management of our email security for our inbound and outbound, with more prospects to configure a multitude of policies that helped us improve our standing and provide a safer experience for our staff and customers.
At the time, Mimecast was the leading industry standard, and we needed a better solution, so it was only natural. After checking out our options, I chose the tool that worked for me the best. Mimecast gave me a platform that did everything i was already working on via one platform saving time thus money and a more robust reporting structure for desired metrics.

The best cases I can draw from at this time would be the many occasions of targeted whaling and phishing attempts. We've had many of our executives targeted, and with the proper setup, I've seen these occasions drop from often too rare, just based on creating a VIP list and policy to detect better unreasonable attempts to trick our staff.
