Overall Satisfaction with Mode

Mode is designed for data people. It is extremely flexible and fast, and you can turn your exploratory queries into professional looking visualizations easily. Mode supports analysis, visualization, data processing in R or Python notebooks, and report writing. I use Mode for everything, from jumping in to quickly answer a simple question to in-depth analytical projects to OKR reporting.
  • Interactive querying
  • Visualization options
  • Report building
  • It's not designed for data engineering, like scheduling table creation, etc.
  • Mode has saved my team so much time compared to slow, unwieldy tools like Tableau.
  • Mode has made data discovery and sharing much easier.
  • Tableau is a huge pain to edit or create dashboards, by comparison. It can make better looking visualizations, but in practice, letting users drill down and change dimensions slows the end user experience so much that it's often not worth it.
  • Looker is amazing for data modeling, but you have to get your whole business all in on it to take advantage. Viz capabilities are similar.
  • Databricks has a lot of functionality overlap, but the visualizations are terrible. Databricks' great strength is that you can use notebooks to do anything with code.

It's very easy to use. See my answers to all the other questions about its strength.
Support has been very responsive and understanding whenever my team has had a problem. The staff is responsive, and they are able to talk with engineers who work on the product and fix issues or troubleshoot when the problem is on my end.
Mode is a clear category winner for how it easy it is to go from interactive analysis to professional quality reporting. You can easily do all your SQL and quite a bit of R/Python. If you want to quickly go from your database to simple charts, this is your pick. If you need to do heavier data modeling, scheduling jobs, or ML, you'll need something else, like Databricks. In my opinion, the quality of visualizations and some developer/analyst features make Databricks an unacceptable substitute.
