Overall Satisfaction with Motive

We use Motive for the ELD, fuel cards, and for drivers to receive their dispatches. We use Motive outward facing dashcams to coach drivers on unsafe driving habits as well as to give positive feedback on safe habits. Drivers are also able to upload documents for safety, compliance, and maintenance.

Pros

  • ELD- alerts drivers when they are close to their hours of service, ensuring they stay compliant
  • Dashcams- allows us to provide feedback and coaching to drivers on things that need addressed as well as things that are going well
  • Customer Service- drivers and fleet personnel can chat with customer serviced. Resolutions are provided very quickly and efficiently.

Cons

  • Fuel card- would like for there to be a real time alert if a fuel card is trying to be used fraudulently
  • Updates- drivers would like notifications within the app letting them know that they need to update the app
  • Customizable volume for dashcams- would like to be able to adjust volume ourselves for dashcam alerts
  • Overall CSA scores due to hours of service have dropped by over 40%
  • Accidents due to driver behavior have decreased by over 70%
  • Fuel costs down by 15%
We have used Motive dashcams to exonerate drivers in accidents that would typically have instantly been deemed driver fault. Being able to show an officer when another driver didn't yield while coming onto an interstate, or crossed over into our lane has been huge. We've also been able to use videos to coach drivers on being more alert and aware of their surroundings.
Customer service is available 24/7. At any time a driver or personnel can call or chat with a customer service representative. Resolution is always provided quickly and efficiently. Their knowledge base allows for finding answers without having to reach out to customer service, but knowing they are available if you can't find the answer has been a big plus.
Any time Motive has been down for any reason you can expect to proactively receive an alert letting you know what systems are affected and that they are working on it. If they are doing routine maintenance you are alerted well ahead of time to allow for drivers to be prepared.

Motive makes it easy to just plug the ELD and dashcams in, connect via bluetooth and have the driver up and running quickly. The interface is user friendly and even the most technologically challenged driver is able to make use of the application with ease. Training time on the ELD has been cut to less than an hour, versus multiple hours with competitors.
