Overall Satisfaction with NextGen Healthcare EHR
We have used NextGen software since 2011 there have been many upgrades over the years that have been beneficial for the most part. NextGen Healthcare EHR works fine. We use it for billing, posting and of course electronic medical records. We have tried over the years too have unlimited text characters in our templates for the providers to dictate. That’s a work in progress. We’ve been working for a few years, trying to get that to fruition. Since we’ve been with him since 2011, I can’t honestly tell you how others compare to NextGen because I’ve had no access to use them. We have been happy enough with the software to be using it for 13 years.
Pros
- it is easy to create an appointment for a patient. The system is easy to use. It can easily show you when the next appoint is and also has pop up system alerts that the staff can view as to any special things that may need to be done before that appointment is created
- Adding charges from an encounter is effortless, creates the claim and is sent to the clearing house and onto the payer. This process is all documented
- one of the best features I like is that in the background is that NextGen documents every user's actions as to what is being done to the patient's chart. As a manager I can view what has happen over time with the patient's chart and easily repair what's needed
Cons
- Unlimited characters in provider's templates where they dictate into
- In the medications template, it is harder to use, adding medications is a bear. Reconciling them is no fun either
- The report engines could be better. At least a better understanding on how to use them to get exactly what you want out of them. That is one big struggle I experience
- electronic payment posting has saved us many man hours each and every month
- the ability to be able to code an encounter and upload to a clearing house in a matter of minutes has been a real time saver to our practice
- one task that has saved us much time without error is the check in check out process
We have utilized dragon in our practice for all providers. it allows them to dictate their progress notes quickly and efficiently with minimal or no errors. Nextgen Healthcare EHR has come out with their own Ai technology. But at $599.00 per provider, we will not be taking advantage of that anytime soon.
