Overall Satisfaction with Notepad++

Notepad++ is being used across the organization by many people including engineers, data scientists, and other departments. It serves as a handy tool for quick file manipulation and editing.

Pros

  • Easy to use interface
  • Quick to load
  • Support for plugins like FileCompare, etc.

Cons

  • Sometimes messes up Python scripts indentation without the user knowing.
  • It is not a WYSIWIG (What You See Is What You Get) editor. Would like it to be one.
  • Should have a Linux version.
  • Made difficult cases of file and text editing very easy.
  • Increases productivity due to features like find/replace across multiple files.
  • Reduces frustration when dealing with many files.
Notepad++ is much easier to use due to its light UI and gradual learning curve. It also supports third-party plugins using which certain additional features can be added.
There are plenty of free tutorial videos on how to use different features of Notepad++ and an active user forum that helps to deal with any problems one may face.
