Overall Satisfaction with Notepad++
Mostly developers use Notepad++. It is a great text editor for developers. I also keep notes about ongoing projects there. Many developers use the multi-tab option, and we like selection of columns.
Pros
- Multiple tabs open at once
- Column selection for find/replace is very useful for developers
- Auto-Save is really handy
- Convert case
- Predictive typing
- Colors for different parts of code (language vs variables)
Cons
- Nothing, this is a great product as is
- Multiple tabs
- Auto-save
- Developer language support
- Development team all uses Notepad++. It is great to have multiple PowerShell scripts open at once.
- Auto save means never losing your work to a sudden reboot
- No negative impact
Notepad that comes with Windows is not an acceptable tool.
I use TextWrangler on my Mac. It's not quite as good as Notepad++, but Notepad++ is not available for MacOS.
