Overall Satisfaction with Optimizely Content Management System

We use Optimizely Content Management System for our own website for everything from landing pages, blog articles, deep dives, and general marketing brochure pages. We also provide support and advice for many of our CMS clients who use Optimizely products in all different sectors and sizes.

Pros

  • Code-first page and Block development - great developer experience
  • On page editing for a good visual editor experience
  • Advanced features for personalisation at scale
  • Robust architecture that efficiently handles traffic

Cons

  • Ability to do advanced A/B testing from within the CMS
  • 1:1 personalisation
  • Advanced search customisation and custom content indexing and control from the editor interface
  • More efficient at content creation
  • Easier to maintain brand look and feel across the website
  • Easy to reuse blocks for many similar pages
We have used all the products in the suite! The CMS works best with Commerce Connect for a rich content-driven commerce experience.
Generally websites can go live anywhere from 2 weeks to a couple of months, depending on how complex the build is and how many other external systems has to be connected with custom integrations.
I find it generally good.
Optimizely Content Management System fits our needs best being fully customisable and modular.

Well suited for medium to large enterprises who have one or more people who can "own" the product and oversee its use as well as oversee the strategy for the website(s) and the roadmap to achieve it.

Not that well suited for smaller businesses where there won't be at least one person who can significantly contribute to ensure the product is used well.
