Use Cases and Deployment Scope

My organization manages a lot of processes outsourced by our clients. We use a lot of Machine Learning based solutions and require cloud infrastructure to support it. Since volume of requests keep on changing dynamically, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure provides an economical and convenient way to scale up the operations to meet the increased demand. This is being used for backend operations of lot of processes.
Historically Genpact used to maintain their own hardware in data centers which was expensive and maintenance cost was high. With this recent switch to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, the performance has improved and the costs have gone down. Further, we can now focus on our core work.

Pros and Cons

Customer service is definitely one of the best I have experienced. A relationship manager was assigned to us who was not only involved to solve the issues we were facing but was also collaborating on different situations.
The data IO speeds are much faster. The queries take less time to retrieve results which in turn means higher employee productivity.
Data is always secure and industry standard encryptions are used while in storage as well as in transit during transfer.

The console UI is complicated and needs to be simplified and made intuitive.
Integration with other tools is a painstaking process. It should be simplified for a more pleasant experience.
Lack of self help tutorials.

Return on Investment

We are saving money by scaling dynamically and generated cash flow by selling hardware.
Data retrieval is much faster leading to shorter turn around times.
Security is the least of our concern now.

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure is primarily suited for large organizations. I believe that for smaller organizations, it's still an expensive offering. For organizations already running Oracle applications on their own hardware, it makes perfect sense to move to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and use it's storage and other offerings. With the cloud storage, application performance improves drastically.
