Overall Satisfaction with Paychex Flex

We currently use Flex for time and attendance, payroll, HRIS, EEOC tracking and annual review tracking.
I use the software every day for any one or all of the above reasons. I have a dedicated account person to contact with any issues. When she is not available, the 1-800 number gives me great support evey time.
  • Timeclock and attendance
  • Splitting rates of pay in payroll
  • User friendly platform
  • Great customer service
  • Reports and variables needed to run reports
  • Easier access for employees on the app
  • When adding new hires, the "pre-checked" process doesn't include direct deposit. I have to finish adding the employee and then go back into the pay tab to enter the direct deposit
  • Very difficult to edit employee phone numbers and e-mails in the system
  • The Paychex app is the best for the employees. It does save me time every day.
  • Timeclock linked to the time and attendance system saves me so much time.
  • Time off accrual and tracking is one of my favorite features.
Positively - It offers more than we ever had with ADP.
We have used reporting to track turnover in many areas.
We have used the reporting for tracking number of people in each area of the facility.
We use the anniversary and birthday reports regularly.
We have a dedicated account person which is extremely helpful.
However, when she is away or not available, it offers me the option to speak to the next available person and most every time, that individual was able to help me.
I would choose Paychex every time!!
The customer service is outstanding!
All of the payroll/HRIS systems are similar in content, but Paychex outshines them in service the delivery of what we need.

Do you think Paychex Flex delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Paychex Flex's feature set?

Yes

Did Paychex Flex live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Paychex Flex go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Paychex Flex again?

Yes

I would like to have better training on the reports and other options that I don't use regularly.
It feels like they don't contact me enough to ask how things are going or if there are areas I would like help with.
I'm sure there are many more functions that I am not currently using. I have found some of them on my own but, when I call with a question, they usually refer to someone that specializes in that area of Paychex. Wish there were more options to talk to one or two people for most of my needs.
The timeclock and time and attendance tracking is great. It's integrated from the clock at each facility to my desktop.
Time off tracking works very well for me and easily managed.

Sometimes, the day-to-day function can be cumbersome. When adding a new employee, they created shortcuts in the process, but the "direct deposit" portion does not work. You have to manually go into the employee to add the direct deposit. Not a huge deal but takes extra time. The reports are hard to understand if you are trying to create a report on your own. We do use quite a few of the "canned reports".

Relationship with Paychex, Inc.

Tara Bowne was outstanding during the entire sales process!
The Paychex implementation team was there for me through the entire process!
Paychex was very open with their capabilities to perform to our expectations.
They were transparent during the entire process.
They are a very large vendor. I would recommend better communication when the point of contact changes and an introduction to the new person prior to needing them. Maybe even some training from the previous contact with the new contact to better understand the companies being assigned to them.

Using Paychex Flex

2 - HR, Payroll and Controller
1 - General payroll knowledge. A certain degree of computer skills.
  • Time and attendance
  • Payroll
  • Time off tracking
  • Turnover Reporting
  • Labor distribution payroll tracking
  • Weekly hour totals at a glance on the dashboard
  • Attendance policies
  • scheduling
After using many different applications of software for payroll, I have always come back to Paychex. It is user friendly and the customer service is outstanding.

Evaluating Paychex Flex and Competitors

Yes - ADP
The ADP system was outdated and very redundant.
It was also more expensive.
They were not timely at all during the process of deciding on an upgrade.
If they couldn't be attentive during the "sale", how would they perform in the actual application of their product.
  • Cloud Solutions
  • Ease of Use
Ease of use and customer service!!
More "hands-on" in a test mode prior to deciding.
It's difficult when the applications change so fast within the HRIS/Payroll system to keep up with changes.
