Overall Satisfaction with PitchBook
We use PitchBook to gather private company data and also to do screens for things such as: specific investor types, transactions, investments, private companies, etc. We also use PitchBook to get contacts and contact emails for when we launch outreach.
Pros
- Private Company Data
- Investor Screens
- M&A Screens
Cons
- Contact emails
- Estimates for Private Companies
- More industry definitions
- Time Saving & Efficiency
- Increase in knowledge
- Increase of our reach
We utilize PitchBook often in our work. Often to find private companies and learn more about their previous funding rounds. We often find that the data is not 100% accurate (have experienced this with clients and errors in total capital raised). For the most part, it is helpful to get some directional data
Compared the FactSet: PitchBook is far superior in providing private company data. On the excel tool front, we use Factset far more often due to the formulas and public company data availability AlphaSense: we use PitchBook as our first source when looking for private company data. AlphaSense is the go to for company research but it is often easier on PitchBook to look at aggregated data for a private company
