Overall Satisfaction with PitchBook

1) quickly understanding the financing history and invsetors in a company
2) quickly understanding the size and experience of a fund manager

Pros

  • comprehensiveness of coverage
  • salient points for GPs and companies
  • organization of information (ie Deal History)

Cons

  • layout isn't great: informaiton (esp. dates) are lost in certain views
  • high level taxonomy of Investor or Company isn limiting
  • We haven't quantified ROI, per se, but we log into PB multiple times per day
Always responsive, though sometimes it takes quite a while for changes to be made
We use it constnatly and value the accuracy and comprehensiveness of the data. I undestand that all data isnt necessarily 100% accurate and that is okay, but anecdotally, the data seems to be very accurate. I can recall a time (5-10 years ago) when this was definitely not the case.
MOstly good, but 1) see previous comment about losing columnar data (esp. dates) in certain views and 2) it's *annoying* and unecessary to have to log in *every time*
PB is more comprehensive, more current, more detaile.d

As a family office, PB is valuable because of its comprehensive data set and because it allows us, as direct investors and fund invsetors to see both companies and fund managers. The research reports are also valuable and cover a variety of topics -- important for an opportunistic invstor like a family office.
