A key tool in any investors arsenal
Overall Satisfaction with PitchBook
Pitchbook is my go to resource for doing rapid background on companies from their basic information to their funding, leadership (including Boards), investors, and status.
In addition their market and segment analysis is always valuable and useful, especially for sharing with others who do not track this arena as closely as I do. This helps others understand macro trends as presented by recognized industry experts.
Finally, the ability that Pitchbook provides that allows me to track my own interest areas and perform analytics on it is invaluable to me as I create, refine, persist and share my own views on the domain.

Pros
- Market, segment and domain analytical papers and reports.
- Accurate and up to date information on companies and status.
- Portfolio tracking via lists and saved data.
- Detailed analytics
Cons
- More data is better.
- Better tracking of company leadership
- Cleanup of data tools, the ability to select and grab data from within profiles for analysis would be nice.
- Pitchbook is key for rapid initial analytics prior to engaging with companies or other investors.
- Pitchbook is a key tool that supports our diligence efforts. It helps us to focus on areas of interest and/or concern.
- I estimate that having Pitchbook saves us the cost of two support analysts who I would otherwise have to hire to provide this data to us.
While the data within Pitchbook is not perfect (it is from publicly disclosed data), it is more than sufficient for conducting initial analysis and first level diligence on companies. When we actually dig into data rooms of companies and look at their books their are differences, but the majority are not that different to where the analytics and statistical models are significantly impacted.
The strength of Pitchbook is its consistency. While many of the competitors do one aspect better than Pitchbook, Pitchbook does each aspect I am looking for well. In other words, while Pitchbook might not be the #1 in a specific category, they are always at least #2 so that across all the functions I look for they score right at the top when I do comparisons.
