Overall Satisfaction with Planview Projectplace

Projectplace is being used to track projects, activities, boards, and development of specific features and bug fixes. We also are using it for time tracking and upper management is using it for strategic planning.

Pros

  • We can write cards quickly.
  • We can update cards quickly.
  • We can move cards quickly.

Cons

  • The individual dashboard sucks and basically makes this tool so painful that I would not recommend it for the line employee.
  • I work on several projects and there is one dashboard "My overview" that can't be modified. All I get is a list of cards on the right in some random orders from the eight or so project boards in one long list. You MUST implement some "cascading" dashboard that shows a hierarchy of Project > Activity > Board > Card > Status with configurable fields shown, where sections can be collapsed when focusing on one area.
  • The ID for cards can be the same as the ID of a different card on another board. If you move a card to another board the ID changes.
I believe this tool is only appropriate for one simple project at a time.

Hi! Thank you for the feedback! I have passed it along to our product management team and also have a couple of responses to your concerns: We are currently working on an update of My Overview that will provide a couple of different options for grouping the cards, which will give a better overview of the work that is ongoing across different workspaces, and it is scheduled to be released in Q3 2018. Regarding the card ID series it is currently unique per workspace, so if the card is moved to a board in the same workspace it retains the original card ID. It is only when the card is moved to a different workspace (a feature that was recently introduced) that the ID is affected. We chose to implement it that way, as the alternative would have been to completely change the card ID series to be unique per account instead of per workspace and that would have had a big impact on all the current boards and cards. If you need any help, please contact Customer Care (https://success.planview.com/Projectplace/Support ). You can also always reach out to your Account Executive with any questions or concerns. Kind regards Anna from the Projectplace team at Planview
