Overall Satisfaction with Prophix

We have not needed to use support for much yet, when we have needed it, we have gotten very quick responses and quick resolution with great service.
Prophix is currently being used within the finance group only. It is used to consolidate data from multiple systems to present various operation reports to the organization. Currently, financial, production volume, employee data (hours and headcount) are all being captured and reported on ranging from weekly to monthly.
  • The ability to quickly change the layout of the data in either Ad-hoc view or Template view is extremely powerful. As easy to use a pivot tables, easier management of the data.
  • The ability to use MDX for formula creation in dimension setup works very well for us as some of the KPIs we report on can be complex.
  • The navigation throughout the system is intuitive and makes learning the system easier. This is great because new users can get up to speed quickly.
  • The report design within Template Studio in the Smart Client is very cumbersome. It has an Excel-like feel however it is not quite as smooth as Excel, especially border management.
  • Report distribution is only available to licensed users, would be nice to be able to enter any email address as most of the viewers of the report are looking at a static Excel file or pdf report and do not need Prophix access
  • Multiple reports require individual distribution or they get merged into one Excel file. This is fine if the report only has a couple of pages, but a monthly report (of which there are 2) with 31 pages becomes a very cumbersome Excel file.
  • Biggest impact thus far has been streamlined reporting at month end. Old process took 1-2 days for report generation once books were closed, now able to generate reports in less than 2 hours.
  • Easy ability to generate weekly reports for workforce activity (Overtime and Temp hours) to allow for close real time management.
  • Significantly easier ability to generate reports across fiscal years and across budget/actual data sets.
Currently we are not doing any automated data import. All data is imported via Excel files. The Excel file integration is very quick and easy to do.
Currently our deployment is on-site. While we may deploy to the cloud later, have on-site deployment was important for us as our IT infrastructure is in a state of flex and cloud solutions are being developed for future use but IT wanted all solutions to be on-site in the interim.
Any type of financial or database driven reporting is extremely easy and powerful in Prophix. We pull a great deal of both financial and non-financial data into the system fairly easily.

We are still relatively new and have a long list of reports and projects we plan to do in Propix so I cannot comment on what cannot be done as we just have not gotten there yet.
