Overall Satisfaction with Pure Storage FlashBlade

They always respond immediately and work through issues completely.
Its high performance has allowed our EDA environment to run much more efficiently.
  • Reduced data center footprint from previous storage
  • Extremely fast
  • Easy to administer
  • SMB support
  • Backup capabilities
  • Sell direct
  • Reduced data center footprint
  • Reduced administrative overhead
  • Allowed for larger single namespace
We are still new to Flashblade, about 1 year, so haven't had much exposure to HW (Evergreen) upgrades. Administration is definitely much easier than NetApp along with reduced initial configuration and installation.
Pure is an excellent NFS high-performance storage, especially for small file EDA type workloads. Buy FlashBlade for workloads that it was designed for.
Pure is easiest to install and administer making it a perfect fit for our EDA scratch environment. Pure lacks mixed mode support which forces Qualcomm to use NetApp or Isilon for any SMB environments.
  • We only use for Scratch at this moment.
EDA scratch workloads. Less appropriate for our software side of the house where SMB is required and mix mode authentication between NFS and SMB is not mature.
