Overall Satisfaction with QuickBase

Our organization uses QuickBase to manage the data generated from daily business transactions. We utilize the graphing, reporting, and summary options to provide visual feedback on how this data is trending through our company. We have several applications built that track everything from doctor's appointments, employee information, assessment data, repair orders, and survey results.
  • QuickBase makes navigation throughout the dashboard fairly easy to use and understand.
  • The interface is clear and concise without unneeded fillers.
  • There are options available to export data to other applications outside of QuickBase to increase usability.
  • The applications need more guidance to set up initially. Unless you are extremely familiar with out it works, it takes time to set up an application for initial use.
  • The reports and graphs set ups are also a little complicated to set up unless you know what you're doing. There are fields that require prior knowledge of how they function or what purpose they serve, as there are not helpful hints throughout the process. A wizard would be more beneficial for novice users to guide through the set up process.
  • Graphing and reporting are also limited to some degree. There are different types of graphs and reports that can be generated, however, if data is exported to Excel or a similar application to manage data, it is easier to make more detailed graphs with the same data. Excel also offers more editing options like changing font types and sizes, colors, etc. There are none of these options available for graphs made within the QuickBase application.
Our organization has benefited from QuickBase's data management benefits for many years now. The ease of inputting data from any workstation into an existing application has provided many benefits to our bottom line. As our organization continues to grow, so does our need for data management and QuickBase is serving those needs daily.
Building applications in QuickBase can be a little challenging but I have found that building the application is much easier than building the reports and charts from the data inputted. The biggest thing that will assist a user in creating an application is having a basic idea of what the application should be capturing. Scratching out ahead of time the categories and the types of data that will be continued within each category is the best tip to ensure the build is smooth.
  • Improving our ability to drive insights from our data
  • Solving a specific business challenge
  • Building and deploying an application (or multiple applications) that meets our exact needs
QuickBase has managed to assist our organization in making improvements through the applications we have built and used over the years. Reports generated from the data have served well in securing our company's accreditation. The ability to export data from QuickBase has also assisted in the gaining of insights from the data collected since we are able to manipulate the same data in a variety of ways once exported into other software. QuickBase is fairly easy to use which makes it an asset, however, at an elevated price. This isn't a cheap option so it is recommended for organizations that are well-established and have extra funds for a major change.
Typically, once applications are built, they are rarely updated, if ever. More time is spent on the building and generating of the reports and charts that come from the data entered into the applications. Applications are fairly easy to build though and updating them should be just as easy, especially after some practice with how the interface works.
QuickBase is great at managing data and providing the user with a single place to store and report on a great deal of information. The range of possibilities that it does have is still beneficial, even considering its shortcomings. QuickBase is a great option for portability since data can be accessed anywhere there is a computing device and Internet connection. It is also a great combination of a database and a spreadsheet program since it does have the ability to create graphic images from the data.
