Overall Satisfaction with Read&Write
Our school district uses Read&Write in grades 3-12 for all students. We have a subscription that includes Read&Write, Orbit Note, and Equatio and they are all valuable tools. Our special education students benefit from all of the features and rely on many of them to keep up with their peers. Our regular education students report that they love the check it tool as well as the note taking features.
- Checks grammar and spelling
- text to speech feature
- speech to text feature
- highlighting tools
- screen masking
- The Check it tool is not always accurate and often makes recommendations that are not helpful like underlining half of a word or suggesting capitalization when it's not indicated.
- The students would love human voices for text to speech
- It would be helpful for the highlighting tools to collect on the same document from multiple articles/web pages instead of making a new Google Doc for each page with highlights.
- It engages more students in the writing process
- It engages more students in the reading process by allowing struggling learners to listen to text and be able to keep up with the discussions with their typical peers.
- It has improved learning outcomes by giving students tools to promote independence and engage them in the process and allowing them to create their best work.
Having access to Read&Write for Google in our school district means the difference between students being dependent on an adult to assist with reading, writing, editing, note taking, etc. to students being more engaged and willing to use the tools to produce their own work that they can be proud of because they were able to be independent.
