Overall Satisfaction with Read&Write
Our district uses Read&Write to support all learners, and it has been an invaluable tool. Students can have text read aloud to them, which enhances comprehension. Teachers utilize the vocabulary tool to quickly extract key terms from articles, making lessons more focused. Both the picture and the regular dictionary have been especially helpful for our multilingual learners. The highlighting and collection features allow students to organize the main ideas and details from the text effectively. Overall, Read&Write has made a positive impact in promoting accessibility and deeper learning for all our students.
Pros
- Great tools for MLL learners; picture dictionary and translate.
- Great tools for students with reading disabilities: read out loud feature and record answers feature.
- Talk and type feature support students with fine motor skill deficits.
Cons
- None at this time.
- It helps boost student engagement and confidence. Using the text reader allows students to complete the assignment with confidence.
- The highlighter and collector support claims, evidence, and reasoning when writing evidence-based essays.
- Teachers can prerecord directions for absent students so they don't fall behind.
Providing this type of support helps to create equality among students. It allows students who struggle to read the opportunity to learn. Providing this resource helps teachers who are overwhelmed with differentiating instruction for multiple learners.
I don't know of other resources that offer this quality of support for teachers and students. It's easy for students of all grade levels to use and incorporate in their studying.
