Red Hat OpenShift clearly wins kubernetes race
Overall Satisfaction with Red Hat OpenShift
We use Red Hat OpenShift for all container workloads and also to migrate existing monolithic apps on VMs to containers.
Pros
- ease of upgrades to cluster + nodes
- easy to use for developers
- observability built into the platform
Cons
- lot of cluster operators
- pre and post hooks while patching the nodes is not available.
- network observability not built into the platform
- decreased time for clusters and nodes upgrades
- day2 cluster delivery is faster
- required end to end network observability
- pre and post hooks for node patching
we are planning to use Red Hat OpenShift gitops, pipelines and hosted controlplanes and instead of using varing tools from other vendors. SIngle vendor ease of management and support.
currently building out hcp infrastruture to provide faster cluster builds more efficiently.
