Overall Satisfaction with Renaissance Star Assessments
We use it 3 times per year for assessment as well as in between for progress monitoring if needed.
Pros
- Predicts grade equivalency.
- Offers guided skill practice.
Cons
- It would be great if Early Star had two separate tests for reading and math.
- I wish Star had its own built-in remedial program and placed students based on the skill deficiency.
- Reports
- shows what skills are mastered or not
- Positive---We use it for guiding our lesson plans.
- Positive---We use it for identifying our lower 25% students.
Study Island is similar but I like Renaissance Star Assessments because it is simple to use and to find data and reports.

Our district does the purchasing, so I do not know if we have premium or not.
I had an enrolled student not showing up, and customer service stayed on the phone with me until the issue was resolved.
