Overall Satisfaction with Safari

I use Safari as my primary browser. So it's by far my #1 most used app on any day. I rarely use anything else... I use Safari for video calls, Google docs, chatting coworkers on Gmail, etc. I don't really like using lots of programs and toggling between them. I'd rather have a few pinned tabs on Safari and all my bookmarks right there at the top.

Pros

  • It's fast, seems faster than other browsers I have used
  • i think it's very intuitive, which may just be because I have used it for so long.
  • Love that it syncs across apple devices

Cons

  • Lack of plugins, or plugins that don't seem to work well
  • I hate how Safari displays browser history without timestamps - I need those for tracking my time on timesheets
  • It can be frustrating when I have a pinned tab and I open a new tab and try to go to the same site from my bookmarks and Safari just switches me over to the pinned tab. I often want two tabs with the same website
  • This is really hard. I mean, it keeps me productive? But I can't say there is a business ROI difference because I use Safari vs. Chrome. It's just preference.
  • I guess it runs video calls well which are key to my work.
  • Negative: I cannot use to do BugHerd tasks, which are frequent. So I switch to Chrome.
I only take a point away because of the BugHerd / plugin / history timestamp issues I mentioned already. I think overall it is highly intuitive. Another thing I just thought of is that adding / organizing bookmarks is much worse on Safari than on Chrome browsers. I don't like that it's a menu item I need to click into.
I think Chrome works great and can honestly do more, but my sense is that Safari is more private. I have no idea if that is actually true. Brave I used for a long time, but it was hard to sync and was so niche that it had constant issues where sites or programs would not run correctly. Firefox I used in college for privacy and honestly because I liked the fox.

Do you think Safari delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Safari's feature set?

Yes

Did Safari live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Safari go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Safari again?

Yes

Great for general browsing. The reason I would hesitate to recommend would be that Safari just WILL NOT work with BugHerd, which is a tool our company uses a lot. I've had two full-time developers try to figure it out and they cannot get it to work. I spent well over an hour. So instead, I just use chrome. And other google plugins we use a lot don't work or are not available on Safari.
