The bank uses SAP Ariba Procurement for its end to end Request to Payment process. When users have a an indirect product or service need, they go to SAP Ariba Procurement. There based on their need, the system guides them to where they need to go, whether it is a smaller, low risk purchase or one that is medium to high risk purchase. The system is able to determine what the need is based on answers to questions and guides them to the best procurement method that is required for the purchase. The end to end process is routed through dynamic tasks and all sourcing, contract and procurement documents are stored in the system. The SAP Ariba Procurement solution allows for the bank to use the strength of the Ariba Network to do business with thousands of suppliers electronically and touchless. It allows for the bank to ensure there is contract compliance to all contracts and provides line level detailed spend visibility into what we are buying. With this data the bank has been able to rationalize and risk assess suppliers so that we are doing business with a core group of suppliers and that we understand the risk of doing this business.
- The Ariba Network - Allows for seamless mining for suppliers, touchless transactions and monitoring and updating of supplier data around information and risk.
- Contract Compliance Matching - Ensures appropriate spend management of supplier spend and that invoices are matched to the appropriate negotiated rates with our preferred suppliers.
- Spend Visibility into what is being purchased - Allows implementation of business processes and reporting that ensures detailed information on our spend.
- Automation of end to end request to payment process - Allows us to have an automated process managed by workflow, centralized location for all indirect spend requests and purchases, and provides a centralized location for all sourcing activities and contract repository
- Out of the Box Reporting - This has been an area where SAP Ariba could improve and are working to improve. The data is in the system however, combining and displaying the data in the system leaves little to be desired
- Easily combining / linking to other SAP Products such as Concur, Fieldglass, SuccessFactors is a limitation but is improving
- Touchless Process - 95% of all invoices are touchless, request process is automated in system.
- Helped to meet and exceed savings goals through use of process and savings tracking through savings form object in system.
- Spend Under Management - 98% of all indirect spend is now under management in the SAP Ariba Procurement solution. 80% of our spend is invoice off of contract.
A huge deciding factor is ease of use for end users. SAP Ariba Procurement far exceeds other offerings. Another factor is ability to process services spend. SAP Ariba offers multiple ways to process all types of spend needed based on how it is being purchased.
