We use SAP Business Technology Platform for developing the applications, for workzone management, role assigments. Connect SAP HANA Cloud to SAP Business Technology Platform and for debugging, testing.

We have built multiple freestyle applications with SAP Business Technology Platform and we are happy about it.
I have seen and used at least one use case - We have used for developing the applications and now we are using to extend the standard sap applications as well.
SAP Business Technology Platform is used for developing Fiori based applications and used to connect API's.
