Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I've been working for 3 years with HANA. I started while with the hospital in Washington state. I liked that it can be easily managed with SAP HANA Studio. It is very easy to use and it gives me on time alerts of the health of the database. I can manage the security of users with easy role-based settings.

The focus of HANA for our organization is for the in-memory human gene analysis project.

Alternatives Considered

Oracle Database Cloud Service

The in-memory performance is the key factor that got HANA sold to us. They also have a huge enterprise user base with nice sized communities to share a good or bad experience.

The SAP is stacked solid and is moving in the right direction.

Likelihood to Recommend

I see this as the next generation of database. It works as a flash disk and has the capacity for hot, warm and cold data. The queries and consults to it can be much faster and easy to use. They have improved and now you don't have to use the index version to improve tables just as you did before with other databases. It has to be considered that its a bit expensive and you need a good and strong appliance so you can implement it on Google Cloud, but its worth it.
