Overall Satisfaction with SAP HANA
We have currently implemented SAP HANA to support all the company reporting needs. By using SAP HANA, our company has sped up the report generating speed as well as simplified decision-making efforts.
Pros
- Very fast processing.
- Improved report generation.
- Easy to manage data and data source.
Cons
- High license costs.
- XSa is complicated.
- It should identify easily the ABAP programs that can be optimized.
- The end-users get the reporting data much faster than before improving their daily tasks.
- More user-friendly than previous version.
- Better analytical functionalities.
Logistic department used to generate heavy reports that took hours to get an overview on the stock available in our warehouse. By using HANA, the reporting data has become almost real-time providing them visibility of the stock available and helping them reassigning the stock to the stores needed.
We have not started using JSON data types. However, we are considering using it in the future.
SAP HANA has simplified the report generation. For example, in our company people run reports in BI and downloaded them in Excel files. Once downloaded, they manipulate them and add some complex formulas to obtain the requested information. By using HANA, the export and modification in Excel task is no longer needed as the logic is implemented in HANA.
HANA has been a huge improvement compared with previous versions of SAP BI. In my opinion it was the natural evolution of an old BI system.
