Overall Satisfaction with SAP Integration Suite
We use SAP Integration Suite, which is a former Cloud Platform Integration mechanism, and SAP PI as middleware between SAP S4 HANA Private Cloud Edition and SAP Digital Manufacturing. This helps us to get the bidirectional integration between the 2 systems seamless for manufacturing critical master data and transactional data.
Pros
- Load balancing with multiple parallel loads at a time
- Message Mapping from source to destination with standard as well as custom fields
- Upgrades can be easily handled without much effort from the customer or consultants
Cons
- Customizations are very difficult to handle. It would be great if these customizations can be done in low-code no-code model
- Eliminates custom interfaces between systems in SAP space
- Cost is very high for customers who uses only one of the standard source or destination systems
- Immediate ROI in fit-to-standard implementations
I have been looking for ML capabilities for so long and am glad to see SAP has already addressed this. I look forward to exploring and implementing this for our AI use cases.
Eliminates customizations. Easy to maintain and secured. For a true digital transformation, I always recommend a low-code/no-code mechanism. Upgrades should reduce traditional IT and infrastructure models, and true SaaS software should be able to do all this for a customer with less intervention. SAP Integration Suite does this.

SAP Integration Suite Feature Ratings
Using SAP Integration Suite
20 - We are using the integration suite for the following business functions to exchange master data and transactional data between SAP S/4HANA or SAP ERP to SAP Digital Manufacturing with multiple ERP plants by using plant conversion feature. This enables us to use a single SAP Digital Manufacturing instance for both Quality and Development systems.
20 - Skills required and used by our team for using Integration Suite are API management and integration flows (iFlows) for both source and target message management. Basically, the SAP DM and ERP or S4 HANA specific artifacts package is needed for the integration iFlow, which consists of a JSON to XML converter (standard settings) and the mapping.
- Master Data Messages Transfer, i.e., inbound from S4 to DM
- Transactional Data Messages Transfer, i.e., both Inbound and outbound, from and to S4 and DM
- Integration message dashboard to see request and response structure and also to troubleshoot errors, if any
- Plant conversion to use single ERP plant with 2 plants in DM - 1 for Quality and the other for production
- Advanced event mesh to connect to 3rd party applications
- To enhance some of the outbound transactional interfaces
- We are planning to connect SAP DM to 3rd party ERP systems using Integration Suite
- We are also planning to use SAP CAP applications in on-prem to ERP
