Which Uses SAPs MDG Framework wrapped on MDG EAM product. problem that MDG addresses are a) Single source of truth b) MDG master data can be replicated to transactional system which helps business to manage synchronous data c) Addresses complex business scenarios and make life easy in managing Asset hierarchies.

Pros

Managing almost all back-end ERP/S4HANA business cases
Flexible, Customizable and Business rules can be easily managed by business..
everything what we does on master data creation, approval are documented well, means there would be no Audit issues.
Global Address validation done and minimized chance of errors in address management
Custom objects can be built on same MDG Framework means low TCO.

Cons

Fiori platform flexibility is not there, need high technical expertise and cost in building SAP Fiori apps, OfCourse standard Apps can be used with ease like plug and play.
It is hard to build custom solutions of SAP MDG , but easy to use as standard product.

Return on Investment

In this digital era , internet generating huge data ( master data and transactional data with pics and videos) if not managed with MDG product, ERP would become Junk data which results in expensive affair to" maintain, archive and manage disaster recovery "

Always SAP and their Partners are helpful in solving product issues and customer concerns.

MDG is a necessary in asset intensive industries where asset Aquisition, maintenance and Retirement happens all across year and globe.
Oil and Gas, Petrochemical complex, Process industries and many more.
Prior to 1990's, issuing a material was a great learning, because to issue a bearing from stores department requestor has to have knowledge of inventory register and material classification well. Or else searching material code itself was time consuming. forgot about managing inventory.
MDG is not necessary in many small-scale industries where business can easily manage material and its complexity.
