Overall Satisfaction with SAP S/4HANA Cloud

We use the SAP S/4HANA Cloud solution as the core component for our value-adding processes. These encompass the entire value chain from purchasing over manufacturing to sales and service, including Finance and Controlling processes. This solution clearly enables process digitalization and optimization. We use one SAP S/4HANA Cloud system for serving all countries and all processes that are in the scope of ERP.

Pros

  • Providing Business Content
  • Providing documentation, support and training related to the solution
  • Offering of out-of-the-box solutions for rapid deployment

Cons

  • Some (especially new) functionalities do not have a sufficient maturity level
  • Modern looking User Interfaces still do contain old-tech components under the engine hood (e.g. Fiorized GUI-transactions, ODATA services as wrapped BAPIs)
  • Lack of functionality (e.g. Production Planning) prevents enterprise-wide usage of all ERP functionalities with one solution
  • huge license investment without a real ROI being able to calcuate
  • Digitalized processes improving process quality and speed
  • The harmonized fundament of master data and transactional data for strategic and operational reporting
In general, SAP S/4HANA Cloud has good usability if proper change management and training are conducted. Despite its intuitive user interfaces it still requires expert training in order to unleash the full potential of the solution. The performance of the solution is good and the user experience is positive. Some processes still are clumsy to use since process automation is not at the stage as we as the customer want it.

SAP S/4HANA Cloud is great in providing industry-standard processes, especially in the areas of order-to-cash, procure-to-pay, record-2-report, and forecast-to-stock. When it comes to adding functionalities, that are not within the scope of the standard business content, complex developments are necessary that require significant resources in both implementation and maintenance. Integration to other SAP solutions is good (both on-premise and cloud) but has lots of improvement potential in integrating to non-SAP solutions.

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Support

The support is generally very good, SAP takes care of the customers. However, if some edge cases appear (e.g. source code errors in the SAP standard code) it takes a significant amount of time to clarify and correct the solution (via Notes). In business critical cases this can become a high-risk topic.
