Overall Satisfaction with SAP S/4HANA Cloud

At my current company, SAP S/4HANA has become a key part of the tools and platforms we use, specifically for database and data management when it comes to money, financial gains, production planning, etc. One problem we face is the ability to become a more digitally sound and agile company. Another issue was have individualized platforms and tools instead of umbrella platforms that encompass multiple need area under one roof for a streamlined and easier to navigate progress. SAP S/4HANA helps is solve these issues as it is more of a centralized piece, integrating with the other tools and platforms we have, while automating things we used to do manually.

Pros

  • More streamlined platform for easier navigation and customable

Cons

  • Takes some work getting it up and running. Especially for a company like mine that comes from a legacy system that was heavily customized.
  • The Fiori user interface is clunky to say the least. Could requires extensive training.
  • Lack of some connection and integration to non SAP apps and platforms.

This platform isn't a simple plug and play. It requires a lot of integration and setup. But it does provide some very needed information including financial health, supply chain data analytics, a one-stop-shop for all things production management. There is a learning curve to utilizing SAP S/4HANA. But it will become an integral piece of the overall company's strategic planning and input processes.

Digital enablement and addressing the future with better analytics. Provides a way to align core business processes with agility and a more streamlined and accessible series of data. This made it difficult to get a single, accurate, real-time view of the company's performance. S/4HANA's Universal Journal and databases help create a single source of truth with all necessary inputs, numbers, and outlooks.
AI has been a key focus for us. The use of integrated AI tools amd features like Joule have helped to analyze data and provide predictive analytics based on historical data, sales, production, etc. It also helps as a conversation tool, allowing users to ask key questions about the business processes, order statuses, etc.
Overall, it helps give more or the foundational data needed, managing different pieces. Other tools like Microsoft Cloud and Azure give more reason to why things are done which helps provide a greater snapshot overall when integrated together. Similarly, Ester is our accounts payable platform, and handles more nuanced pieces that couldn't just be done with SAP S/4HANA.

Aa a global manufacturer in food ingredients, one main scenario it is used and fits, is in managing inventory and supply time in real time. You can track information and find out where there are gaps without waiting too long. Another scenario is during financial management, specifically centralizing key financial documents/information like cash flow, production costs, etc. There may be a lack for those using highly specialized manufacturing systems, where it just does not fit.
