Overall Satisfaction with Scale Computing HC3

We are using Scale across the whole of our organisation as we have moved our network to the "cloud". It addresses issues around updating hardware constantly with using Microsoft Hyper-V as in we no longer have to update the Hyper-V server as Scale updates can be carried out on the live system.

Pros

  • Snapshots are very good and give you peace of mind that you can go back to as many points in time as you wish
  • Incredibly easy to set up initially
  • Support line very good

Cons

  • Ability to increase disk sizes of VMs "on the fly"
  • You currently need to shut down the server and clone before you can
  • Being able to plug in USB drive and get files off
Their support team is available 24/7 and are all extremely knowledgeable.
  • We have only had our Scale solution for a few months so have not had a chance to see a return on our investment yet.
In a business where they need a large amount of VMs that need to be highly available.

    Karl, Thank you for your candid feedback! Here is a fix to your "Ability to increase disk sizes of VMs "on the fly", which is available in HyperCore version 8.5 https://www.scalecomputing.com/blog/live-disk-expansion-on-hc3-available-now About "You currently need to shut down the server and clone before you can", you can clone without needing to shut down the VM, but if I've misunderstood the comment, I'd love to chat with you. We routinely run 45 minute sessions with our current customers to see if there are any pain points or changes they would like to recommend to us for future releases.       It is ready for production use through support at the moment but should show up in the UI when we move to full GA in a bit.
