Overall Satisfaction with Shift

Hands down the best organizational app on my MacBook Pro! I've been a loyal Shift user since 2021 on the Advanced plan and have enjoyed the experience. I particularly find being able to connect multiple Gmail Email Accounts and managing them from one dashboard super useful and efficient. Since I didn't want to buy Microsoft Outlook or Office 365 for mac, it really helped me make Gmail feel more native to the MacBook Pro. I really like how Shift has consistently improved the User Experience and had rebranded making it even more streamlined to use. I love an app that is useful and looks great too. I connect a variety of other apps and websites as well so that I can have quicker access to them without having to launch a separate browser and have a bunch of extra windows open on my Mac where screen space is limited as it is. If you're a person who wants to make life easier with organizing apps and having a central location to access a variety of services SHIFT is for you! I for one will be a lifetime customer as it's just been great for my workflow.

Pros

  • Connects Gmail Email Accounts with ease
  • Makes it easy to organize a variety of apps in one dashboard
  • Unclutters your desktop with less Browser tabs and windows open at one time
  • Connects to other Productivity apps with one click
  • Acts as a central hub for all app productivity usage saving time

Cons

  • Have to re-authenticate Gmail after a perhaps a week or so or sometimes a few days - Doesn't always happen but this is probably more because of the Google API and less to do with SHIFT
  • I still use Chrome Browser separately for Wordpress websites because of the Dev Tools and being a web developer but for normal users who just browse the web it's great. But perhaps adding some dev tools into the web browser portion of the app would be nice
  • Certainly improved stress with less cluttered screen real estate
  • Quicker access to apps I use everyday without having to constantly login separately
  • Adds a few hundred a month to my bottom line due to being more productive and less stressed which allows me to get more done and invoice more.
I've added most of my Google Apps, particularly GMAIL, DOCS, SHEETS, GOOGLE ADS, Google Analytics. ChatGPT Plus is my favorite app that I access nearly daily with one click. Along with YouTube, Amazon, Trello, Stripe, Canva, Upwork, Fiverr, ManageWP, Google Business Profile, Google Tag Manager, Zapier, Google Maps, Dropbox, Wordpress.com to name a few! The experience with adding these apps was smooth as long as you know your login details, you can have them set up in no time and be able to access them all with one click.
Significantly cut down on the time in having to launch the browser, type the website, login and so on. I just launch Shift and press the icon for the app I want to use, and it loads up immediately. Sometimes I have to re-authenticate due to having two-factor authentication enabled but that is understood via the apps particular settings not Shift.
Works great, I never have to worry about the apps UI glitching, it's production version is polished and works great.
I came from using a similar app called MailPlane, some of you older users might remember this app. It had a similar function to connect Gmail accounts so that I could use Gmail like a regular app. This app reached end of life and the developers no longer decided to keep the app active. I was then back into the market in search of a comparable app and my searched led me to fine Shift. I'm absolutely glad I did! 4 years later and I'm still using Shift. It was 2021 when MailPlane stopped selling licenses. If I remember correctly I switched to Shift around this time or possible before. All I know is I switched and never looked back and was extremely happy to find Shift.

Do you think Shift delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Shift's feature set?

Yes

Did Shift live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Shift go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Shift again?

Yes

Well suited if you have multiple Gmail Accounts to manage and don't want to manage them all separately. OR want a better experience switching between apps. If you use Microsoft Office 365 it might not be as needed in my opinion but if you use a variety of 3rd party apps and sick of having to login to the web browser on all of them and switching from tab to tab with the cluttered screen, then Shift will come in handy.
