Overall Satisfaction with Shift

I am a consultant that works across clients. Shift helps me set up dedicated workspaces that allow me to toggle between different browser tabs, different Google Drives, and importantly -- different inboxes. This turned a nightmare into something very manageable, and now I can't live without it.

Pros

  • Help me toggle effectively across project and client workspaces.
  • Help me toggle cleanly across different inboxes and Drives.
  • Keep me sane as I juggle vastly different engagements and priorities.

Cons

  • Sometimes apps (like Linkedin or Google Drive) stall out and require removal and reinstallation. This is a pain.
  • I have yet to learn any shortcuts, and I've been using the product for almost two years. How can I more seamlessly adopt them?
  • Browser Tabs could be tagged or more smartly grouped. Right now, each of my workspaces has a vast wasteland of similar looking tabs.
  • Less frequent accidental context-switching
  • Less churn and time-wasted
  • 200% less frustration juggling priorities
I frequently use Gmail, Linkedin, Canva, ChatGPT and Calendly. Google Drive / Docs often stalls out and becomes unusable on Shift, which is a bummer. I have yet to use Slack through Shift as the standalone Slack app works just fine for my needs and is already organized into different workspaces.
Mentioned previously.
Usable, if you can get used to the logos / icons. Probably more usable if you can get a hang of the shortcuts (which I have not).
Shift is the only solution for bespoke, durable workspaces that include email, apps, browsing, etc.

I would recommend Shift to consultants or fractional leaders who are working across engagements, companies or inboxes. It's really useful for this. I might also recommend it for busy execs who have an equally busy side hustle and / or personal life. When I started using Shift, it was because I wanted to stay organized between my day job, my newsletter, my course, my home projects and my personal inbox.
